The NBA season is about a quarter of the way complete and a few teams were ready for some roster shakeups. The Phoenix Suns and Charlotte Bobcats were two of those teams and they agreed on a blockbuster 5 player deal yesterday. The Suns acquired scoring machine Jason Richardson and F Jared Dudley and sent F Boris Diaw, G Raja Bell, and G Sean Singletary to Charlotte. This trade surprised me when I heard about it because it does not seem beneficial for either team. The Suns traded away their two best defensive players for J-Rich who plays no defense! whatsoever. Coach Terry Porter has had trouble winning over his new team and GM Steve Kerr decided to shake things up. J-Rich will flourish alongside PG Steve Nash, but the Suns will have to go back to outscoring teams rather than beating them. J-Rich is injury prone, but if he is healthy this team will put on an offensive s
how. Steve Nash is upset because Diaw and Bell were his best friends.Diaw and Bell became expendable when Phoenix signed F Matt Barnes this offseason. For the Bobcats, they traded their b! est player for two role-players and yet another young PG. Cha! rlotte a lready has DJ Augustin and Raymond Felton. Raja Bell can shoot, but is not what he used to be. Boris Diaw has slowly dropped off since receiving his monster contract. This is not wh
at Larry Brown needs to win. The Bobcats are now even worse. The other NBA trade yesterday was a three team deal. Washington received PGs Mike James and Javaris Crittenton, the Hornets got PG Antonio Daniels and a 2nd round pick, and the Grizzlies received a first round pick. The winner in this deal was the New Orleans Hornets. They get a great ba! ckup for Chris Paul in Antonio Daniels. Washington gets quantity over quality with G Gilbert Arenas out. Memphis continues to not help themselves get better by dealing everyone.
