Quick news: Jason Kapono gets sent to 76ers, Kings hire Paul Westphal

The Toronto Raptors traded former 3 point shootout champion Jason Kapono to the Philadelphia 76ers for forward Reggie Evans.

Michael Grange of the globeandmail.com news said that Bryan Colangelo said one of his goals this off-season was to make his team tougher. He just did by trading for Evans. This afternoon they got bruising forward Reggie Evans. Colangelo also said that their organization was too nice and he wanted to bring in some guys with different mentalities. They might be able to get some more of those tough-minded players because Chris Bosh has already made it clear that he wants to be a free agent in the hyped-up offseason in 2010.

Evans isn't the best offensive player, but he certainly is great at grabbing the boards. He averaged 12.6 rebounds {4.6 offensive rebounds} per 36 minutes over his 7 year career.

The Kings also announced that they hired Paul Westphal as their head coach. He has previously coached for the Phoenix Suns an! d Seattle Sonics, and recently was an assistant for the Dallas Mavericks before taking this job. Celtics assistant coach Tom Thibodeau and Lakers assistant Kurt Rambis were in the running for the job, but Westphal was hired. He is 267-159 {0.63} in 7 seasons as a head coach.
